Good Day Larchmont Community!  

As we finalize our group touches on our recycled, collage portfolios, we turn another creative page towards our MONTHLY SKETCHBOOK CHALLENGE!  I have posted an introduction letter for parents on Google Classroom, along with two other documents that detail the monthly challenge's due dates along with visual examples of how to support your child's creative successes! The students will receive their sketchbooks next week during their designated Art class times; Monday, September 24, 2018, Tuesday, September 25, 2018 & Wednesday, September 26, 2018.

Our first challenge will be to creatively express yourself and it is due on November 1, 2018.

The importance of creating a safe space, with tools to digest and fully comprehend the visuals that bombard us daily, is great.  

In order to support their visual comprehension, as well as their creativity, students will receive a monthly vocabulary word to explore through an assignment on google classroom.  I encourage you to help, but allow creative room and responses from their own unique perceptions. There will also be a written quiz on Google classroom following the completion of the vocabulary.  This written reflection, of a provided image, will allow me to measure their  understanding of the month's vocabulary word along with establishing a safe space for art conversations. Similarly to their sketchbooks, both assignments will be due on the first of each month and will count towards their homework grade.
