Larchmont Charter began with 120 kindergarten through 2nd grade students on 1 campus and has grown tenfold to 1,440 students from kindergarten through 12th grade on 4 campuses.

This spring the first class of Larchmont students will graduate. Since its inception Larchmont has ranked among the top performing public schools in Los Angeles and has inspired the founding of three other diverse progressive charter schools in LA and across the country. It has been a leader in constructivist education providing hands on project based learning grounded in authentic inquiry that facilitates collaboration and making connections across content areas. Instruction in literacy and mathematics is tailored to each student’s level and emphasizes deep conceptual understanding over rote memorization. The emphasis on social emotional development, community and diversity builds in students a deep sense of self and the world around them while the focus on service nurtures in students a dedication to improving the world they inhabit. Larchmont is preparing students for the future by cultivating in them creativity, problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, adaptability and emotional intelligence.
